Character Analysis of Aislinn, the Undercover Heir - Seventh Chakra

The Seventh Chakra is our spiritual connection.
This is so far out of the picture for Aislinn as the series begins, because too many of her concerns are about her physical and emotional well-being, but she already shows a concern for those around her, even though her world and her people are new to her.

Character Analysis of Aislinn, the Undercover Heir - Sixth Chakra
The Sixth Chakra is about intellect and intuition.
Aislinn is street-smart. She has no addictions but has lived with people who do. She understands well how to keep herself safe and using her intelligence to solve problems. Her intuitive gifts, natural among the Faerie folk, have been blocked, causing her to have a constant headache. Her well-developed skills of observation serve her well as she goes about trying to solve the mystery of her mother's coma, Cian's drugged behavior, and other mysteries of a world that is completely new to her.
Aislinn has learned very well how to adapt no matter where she finds herself. This serves her well in her new "home."

Dyan Garris Interviews Cat Muldoon on Voice of the Angels Blog
I met Dyan Garris, author of Voice of the Angels books, music, and spiritual exploration cards during her virtual book tour (I virtually met her, that is). I immediately felt a kinship with her. Dyan's depth and caring come right through her words printed onscreen. She actually gets up at 4 AM to do a channeled message every day. That's amazing to me, who is a night owl!
Anyway, these are some of the things she asked me about on her blog:
Telepathy
Clairvoyance
spiritual beliefs
shapeshifting
herbology
aromatherapy
massage therapy
training
research
life experiences
characters talking to me
the difference between observation and intuition
and so much more.
I hope this entices you to check out my interview. She asked me some amazingly insightful questions, and I'll tell you, it took me a while to complete the interview.
Be sure to go to her website for your free angel card reading. The cards are simply gorgeous!
Hear Ronda Del Boccio, The Story Lady, interview Dyan Garris on InnerSpace LIVE! Author Interviews Friday, January 18th.

Character Analysis of Aislinn, the Undercover Heir - Fifth Chakra
The Fifth Chakra is about communicating one's truth.
Aislinn has managed to be a caring person despite her difficulties. She has a desire to be open with people even if she lacks the trust and ability. It is difficult for her to express her deepest feelings, but she makes the first baby steps to opening up during the first novel.
Gee, as I do this I realize what a mess she must seem like to someone who may be reading this who hasn't read the book.
She could have come out hard, but she is a likable person who does rise to the hero's challenge.
Despite all she's lived through, she does everything she can think of to help her mother, who is in a mysterious coma for most of the book. She is willing even to go against her better judgment to be of value to her people.

Character Analysis of Aislinn, the Undercover Heir - Fourth Chakra
The Fourth Chakra is about Emotion, especially love.
As the series begins, Aislinn feels she can trust only one person. She begins to trust people in Faerie only a little. This is not surprising given that her kinsman is acting drugged and someone is trying to kill off the family.
The first book takes place over a matter of about 3 weeks, so there is only so much love and trust that can naturally occur for someone like her in this amount of time. She does begin to accept assistance and she begins to open up just a little (a very little).

Character Analysis of Aislinn, the Undercover Heir - Third Chakra
The third chakra s about physical attributes and power.
Aislinn has learned to be phpysicallystrong as a necessity to keep her safe. When she met Sharla, after fleeing her last foster home on her 18th birthday, she learned Tai Chi, which gave her experience in meditation as well as skills that could be used for self defense.
Aislinn is beautiful but is too thin. She has not truly claimed her power at the start of the series, though new powers are thrust upon her during Rue the Day.

Character Analysis of Aislinn, the Undercover Heir - Second Chakra
This is an ongoing character analysis of Aislinn, the heroine of the Undercover Heir series, using the Chakra system.
The Second Chakra is located in the genitals and relates to sex and creativity.
Aislinn has not felt close enough to anyone for much sexual involvement. One of her foster fathers attempted to rape her on her 18th birthday. As she learns to trust, she will be able to open up on this level.

Characters in Rue the Day: The Undercover Heir Book 1 by Cat Muldoon
Characters and plot are both important in a story, obviously. Without the characters, there is no action and thus no plot.
Rue the Day Characters – Faerie unless otherwise indicated
Principal protagonist
Lynne / Aislinn (Ays-LEEN):Does not learn until partway through that she is Princess of Faerie. She was raised in the mortal world because Queen Neala wandered into the boundarylands when the mists that allow passage between Faerie and the human world were up. She suffers from a constant headache and learns that it is because her innate psychic gifts were blocked. Her mother disappeared when they were trying to cross through the mists and Aislinn got stuck on the human side. She was shuffled to over a dozen foster homes and as a result is extremely observant and just as wary.
Mistress Meave (MEE-uv): Premier of the order of the Anointed Hand (healers), cunning, melancholy, and talented with herbs, scents, etc.
Master Cian (KEE-an Master Healer, brother of the Queen who swore a vow to bring Aislinn back somehow; prone to wandering out in nature, disdains court life, highly empathic
Lord Rhoedrie (HROAD-ree): former apprentice under Cian’s mentorship, now a full healer, highly empathic, loves to be in nature, loves animals
Mistress Eliatha (el –li-A-tha):Royal Bard and Principal of the Order of the Gilded Harp (the order of bards), trusted advisor of the Crown, loves Cian
Queen Neala (Nee-AH-la), got caught in the mortal world while pregnant with Aislinn, managed to return, but without her daughter, she spends most of the book in a coma-like state induced by treachery and poison
King Nevin (NE-vin): King of Faerie
Lord Callum (KAL-lum):Lusty warrior who Aislinn bests, vying for higher position and conquest of women
Ultan: Skilled warrior, recently wed with pregnant wife, cheerful disposition
Ardal: Warrior
Captain Eogan (EE-gun): Captain of the Guard, makes/uses whips, attempts to kill the King with a blowdart
Sharla: (Elderly human) woman who offered Lynne a tiny shepherd’s hut to live in as exchange for tending her land, taught her Tai Chi
Master Bryan: Master Silversmith, buoyant personality, member of an influential group bound by blood to serve the Crown called the BloodBound
Lady Fiona (Fee-OH-na): Posing as Lady in Service (ladies maid basically) to Aislinn but really her Guard, member of elite security, bloodbound, works undercover on various missions for the Crown
Grand Master Fargal (Leaf): Leaf is a nickname for the ancient Master Gardener
Nyssa (NIS-sa): Novice healer, jumpy and easily influenced, appears to be about Aislinn’s age, kinswoman to Meave
Holy Mother Orla: High Priestess who tests Aislinn, stern and officious
Diarmid: Announces proceedings at High Court
Selkie, the Sealfolk, who take on a humanoid appearance on land but are by nature seals

Suhtri: Selkie healer who helps heal Aislinn after she is attacked by Meave's magical device
Corlath: Selkie guardian assigned, to his distain, to protect Aislinn while she is with the Selkie for healing. He comes to appreciate and befriend her – and to love her, though he will not admit such a thing until book 2.
Horses
Faylani and Grayston: Horses who mind-speak
Cat
Bree (cat)– Aislinn’s old cat

Rue the Day: The Undercover Heir, Book 1 by Cat Muldoon

Isn't this a fabulous cover!
Here's the 1 sentence teaser:
Faerie – more sordid than surreal: Poison, treachery, deceit, secret identities, hidden agendas, love, betrayal, and attempted murder abound in the suspenseful fantasy romance Rue the Day: The Undercover Heir, Book 1.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Magic is dying. The only person who can restore it is the Queen, but she is in a coma. Everyone believes that grief over the presumed death of her only child, causes her mysterious condition. But the child - now a woman - lives, and she is their last hope.
When Aislinn is retrieved from her unintended exile the mortal world, she discovers that treachery, not grief, is the cause of the Queen’s condition. Someone has been poisoning and spellbinding people in power, but whom? The keen observer soon finds her own life in peril as she tries to discover and stop the culprit before anybody dies – and before Faerie falls into evil hands.

The Undercover Heir: An Epic Fantasy Suspense Series
Who Is the Undercover Heir
The Undercover Heir is about a woman who has a secret. At first even SHE does not know her secret. That is where Rue the Day begins.
She knows of herself as Lynn, a woman of about 20 years old who has experienced a difficult past. She is abused, ridiculed, and alone since her mother's disappearance when she was a toddler. Now as the book opens, she is at the brink of a huge change.
Where a character meets change, there is a story.
If nothing is changing, there is no story. Think of a newspaper with a single headline, "Everything's perfect today." Did you ever consider the saying, "No news is good news"? It is when things get tough that life gets interesting.
I will share reviews and more about the first book, which Wings published in May of 2007.
Would I Enjoy This Series?
If you like these things, you will be interested in Rue the Day:
A story you can sink your teeth into
A story with a theme
A story that is entertaining AND makes you think
Suspense
Drama
Treachery
Rich iagery
Feeling as if you are there
New worlds
aromatherapy
telepathy
mythical creatures
Fantasy --
A lot of people who do not like fantasy stories enjoy Rue the Day. Pam said, "Your story pulled me in and normally I hate fantasy."
Romance --
The first book has a splash of romance. Just that.
The second book has a bit more.
You will never get a sappy romance novel from me. I don't like them that way.
What Are People Saying about Rue the Day?
Will Blakely said, "Your writing style is a combination of J. K. Rowling and J. R. R. Tolkein."
What lovely praise, thank you.
I will be sharing reviews as we go along.
Who Are the Characters?
I'll put character descriptions up on this blog so you you know who you'll be meeting.
Stay tuned.
Where Can I Read an Excerpt?
on my website http://CatMuldoon.com
You can hear me read from the book and also you can read excerpts as they come into your email inbox.
